Custom Dashboard & DCIM Design
KT Corporation is one of South Korea’s leading telecommunications companies, providing a wide range of services including mobile, broadband, and fixed-line communications.
As a subsidiary, KT Cloud provides cloud infrastructure, platforms, and AI solutions to support digital transformation and innovation.
Project Background
KT Cloud initiated a large-scale project to implement an integrated monitoring and management system. This included custom dashboards, DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management), and FMS (Facility Management System).
My Role & Contribution
- Custom Dashboard Design: 60% (Total 6/10pages)
- DCIM Design: 100%.
Challenges
Integrated Dashboard:
KT required a solution that could display regional data at a glance and allow quick identification when occurring errors.
Unlike the typical dark-style dashboards used in control centers, KT requested a map-based visualisation that emphasised regional monitoring.
DCIM:
The system needed to reflect KT’s actual data center rooms, not just default floor maps. They required full equipment visibility, including devices located behind walls, while avoiding overwhelming complexity.
Design Solutions
- Designed map-focused dashboards that highlight regions and enables immediate detection of system issues.
- Applied transparent walls to reveal hidden equipment, balancing accuracy with readability.
- Simplified non-essential areas in equipment-heavy rooms to improve clarity and user focus.
- Proposed a modular design framework, making the system scalable and adaptable for future expansions.
Impact
The DCIM system, which had not been fully adopted in previous implementations, was successfully established as KT Cloud’s new operational platform. My custom design improved monitoring efficiency, enhanced equipment visibility, and later evolved into a modular standard now being expanded Watchtek's new platform.
